Perry Russom is an ABC News correspondent and weekend morning
co-anchor for WABC-TV based in New York, covering breaking news and
major national and international stories.

Russom has reported on the ground covering top stories, including the
midair crash at Regan National Airport, the 2024 Republican National
Convention, and Baltimore’s Key Bridge collapse.

Before joining ABC News, Russom served as a correspondent for CNBC
filing reports from across the country on both natural and
human-caused disasters. He covered the humanitarian crisis at the
Ukraine-Poland border at the start of Russia’s invasion; the
elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas; and was among the first
reporters in Fort Myers, Florida, after Hurricane Ian made landfall.

Prior to CNBC, Russom was based in Boston at WBTS-TV, where his
writing and reporting on breaking news earned him three regional
Emmy® Awards. He also worked for WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island,
and WBNG-TV in Binghamton, New York. He started in the industry when
he was 18 years old as a desk assistant for KYW Newsradio in
Philadelphia.

Russom is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School
of Public Communications, where he earned dual degrees in broadcast
journalism and political science. He also graduated from the Renée
Crown University Honors Program.

Russom serves on Newhouse’s Emerging Leaders Alumni Board.
